GFA Awarded Contract for Largest FSC Certification Area in Germany
Earlier this year, GFA Certification has been awarded the FSC Certification of the State Forestry and Timber Agency Rhineland-Palatinate. In a preliminary assessment, the 45 state forestry offices manage a total of about 230,000 ha of mostly mixed forests. This will be the largest FSC certification area in Germany ever. The record so far was also held by GFA: 130,000 ha certified in late 2011 as commissioned by the State Forestry and Timber Agency in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
“We are glad,” stated Carsten Huljus, Director of GFA’s Certification Department. “The more than 45 private and communal forest enterprises we have certified in Germany prove that more and more retailers and consumers actively demand products from sustainable forest management”. The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) promotes environmentally friendly and economically sustainable forest management. GFA Consulting Group was the first German company to be accredited by the Forest Stewardship Council in 2000.
