Project Description:
The main objective of the project is to contribute to the strengthening and to the development of the Justice Organs Professional Training Centre (JOPTC) in Ethiopia. To ensure that it is better positioned to fulfil its important role with respect to raising the professional qualifications of judges, prosecutors and justice professionals. The technical assistance aimes at improving the capacity of the training centre to deliver pre-and in-service qualified training courses to justice professionals by improving the skills of trainers and the quality of the syllabi and curricula design. Ad hoc trainings on specific subjects that are currently not being offered by the JOPTC will be provided.

Job Description:
The Training Facilitator will deputise for the team leader when required and be responsible for the training related aspects of the project, in particular:

Identify new specialized training course needs for justice professionals
Establish a training management program and M&E system
Program development of professional trainers based on assessment of the manpower needs for the coming decade.

Organize training for the existing cadre of trainers trough medium or short term training programs by external experts to upgrade their qualifications. Organize regular updating and refresher courses for trainers.
 




Qualifications:
Qualifications and skills
  • University law degree preferably with comparative law approach
  • 5 years of expertise as a judge, prosecutor, practicing lawyer, law professor or legal advisor in the local legal system
  • Full knowledge of  Amharic (written and spoken) is an asset
  • Good English skills (written and spoken), including legal terminology
  • Good computer skills
Professional experience
  • Work experience with multicultural mediation
  • Experience with monitoring and evaluation systems
  • Experience with trainings in the legal/judicial field
