Project Summary	The project contributes to sustainable protection of the forestry ecosystem in Dzanga-Sangha Reserve, which was created in 1982 to protect elephant and gorilla populations and other big mammals. The projects aim is to encourage the economic use of natural resources by the local population in order to protect the reserve. It is therefore indispensable to strengthen the communal control, to further develop eco-tourism as the most important income generating source and to assure the sustainable use and marketing of timber and non-timber products. Coordination with neighbouring countries Congo-Brazzaville and Cameroon is also an important task.
