Susanne Pecher
Head of Africa Department
"I always wanted to work abroad with people. I found out that this is the job description of a Consultant. After many years in this job, still every day is different and I experience new things. As a GFA Consultant, I can create small opportunities every day - wherever I work. The Challenge for a GFA Consultant is to take up the different viewpoints of people and to bring out the best in others. A good GFA Consultant is curios, likes to draw decisions and is passionate about his/her work."

We want you to be rewarded...
Performance requires incentives. We have a flexible performance-based remuneration system. In addition to your basic salary, we reward you with an individual bonus depending on your personal achievements.

We see each employee's commitment. Based on GFA's financial results, each of our long-term employees receives part of the company's profit at the end of the year.

We enjoy profitable growth and have confidence in the future. We want the people who create value and invest in their business to enjoy its rewards. For GFA, employee ownership is an important principle. Our stock ownership program provides all GFA employees, with long-term contracts and two years GFA experience, with a rewarding long-term investment opportunity.
Magnus Schmid Magnus Schmid
Senior Consultant and Project Manager of the Africa Department
"I am an Agricultural Economist by education. GFA is the perfect platform to combine all my interests and abilities: Rural development, Private Sector Development, Marketing, Communication, Public Relations and to work abroad with people. An important step in professional training is to put responsibility on the individual. From the beginning of my work in GFA in January 2001 till now I received more and more responsibility. Decisions were always fair and transparent. Today I am coordinating six EC and GTZ funded long-term projects in Angola, Botswana and Mozambique. I improved my skills in more than thirty short-term and two long-term missions. In Yemen, for example, I was responsible for the conception and elaboration of agricultural radio broadcast programmes in the framework of the EC Marketing Information System Project. In 2005 and 2006 I worked as technical assistant for the GTZ-programme: Reintegration of Ex-soldiers and Local Development in Angola. In Guinea I advised a KfW funded project in 2003 and 2004. My work focussed on sensitisation and integration of the buffer zone population into forest protection and the sustainable use of natural resources."

We create opportunities...
GFA consultants create opportunities for our target groups.  Our mission is to support development and to reach progress. We are passionate about making a contribution through sustainable results in developing and transition countries. Our performance is based on our success. In an environment of strong competition, we put our clients first and respect the values and norms of our partner institutions.
Christian Rake
Senior Consultant of the Maghreb & Middle East Department
"As an agricultural economist engaged in irrigation development and natural resource management I’m convinced that the challenge of our work is to sustainably manage the trade-off between promoting the socio-economic development and preserving the natural resource base; and to keep both objectives in parallel and permanently in mind.
However, what is best for the people we work with is best assessed by themselves and any of our professional forecasts and economic modelling can only try to depict their perspective; though we offer sound advice but do not tell people what to do or not to do; our advice should create an opportunity for change and this is the best argument to make people adhere to our ideas."

We see the world as one...
GFA Consultants work worldwide. We have projects in more than 70 countries on four continents. We respond to other cultures with flexibility and open minds. We co-operate without conforming.
Inge Gaerke
Head of Europe & Central Asia Department
"Working in so many different countries and with so many different people is one of the most exciting aspects of my job. The people I meet are interesting people, real characters. Today I have friends a little bit everywhere. We keep in contact through visits and emails. Work at GFA is very much team-oriented. The team consists of international and local consultants, local partners, counterparts and the final beneficiaries of the projects. So far I have worked in about 35 countries of the world, mainly in Europe, Asia and Africa."
