The program for sustainable management of forests in the Congo Basin implemented by the Sangha Tri-National Trust Fund is to fund and support activities managed by three national parks located in Cameroon, Central Africa Republic, and Congo. On behalf of KfW Development Bank, GFA has been supporting FTNS in managing and conserving the national parks, implementing land use and park management strategies in collaboration with various stakeholders

Armin Metzger lives in Hamburg as a painter, sculptor, and illustrator. His paintings move between realism and surrealism. Paintings by old masters and topics from mythology inspire him, as do his travels to Southeast Asia and South America. On June 2, 2016, Sher Mohammad’s return to school turned out to be a busier day than he had expected. Big crowds of young students bustled around his booth, marvelling at his exhibits and assailing him with questions about his woodworks. GFA recently won the ECOPROFIT project within GIZ’s Skills for Green Jobs (S4GJ) Program. On-site work will start in the South African Eastern Cape in September 2016. GFA and WertSicht composed a team of three consultants, each ECOPROFIT-certified and with long-term experience in implementing corresponding programs. Project locations will be Port Elizabeth and East London; the project duration is until October 2017 ... more

On 9 August 2016, Gerd Müller, German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, visited a social marketing project in Niger financed by KfW. The project has been financed by the German government since 2003. It targets reproductive health and HIV/AIDS prevention and is implemented by GFA in cooperation with ANIMAS-SUTURA. This social marketing agency has been responsible for developing, distributing and marketing high-quality condoms.

The debate on aid effectiveness reached its peak with the Paris Declaration in 2005 and resulted in the Sustainable Development Goals in 2015. GFA reacted by establishing a Public Finance Management Department (PFM) in July 2015 that concentrates professional skills and creates synergies worldwide. Operational for more than a year, the department has become a success as it won new projects worldwide and diversified its portfolio.

We at GFA are shocked at the news of the sudden death of our colleague Maya Karlstetter. She and her mother died in a tragic car traffic accident on July 12th, 2016.To us, Maya was not only a reliable and competent consultant and colleague in our Asia department in Hamburg. We also came to appreciate and were enriched by her positive charisma and her passion for nature. Wildlife conservation in particular was a matter close to her heart

In mid June 2016, the Forest Climate Partnership Facility (FCPF) accepted the REDD+ programs of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Costa Rica. Since 2013, GFA has been supporting the Congolese Government in the design of its REDD+ program.
