Environmental management guide for municipalities launched in Lebanon

On 17 July 2017, the EU-funded Support to Reforms-Environmental Governance (StREG) project supported by GFA Consulting Group and the Ministry of Environment in Lebanon launched a guide book, Practical Guide for Municipalities to Enhance Environmental Management. The guideline is based on extensive research and development, and addresses Lebanese municipalities. 

In addition to the special advisor to the Lebanese President on environmental affairs, Claudine Aoun Roukoz, several ministers, the EU representative, ambassadors, international agencies, and more than 160 mayors and representatives of NGOs, civil society and research organizations, as well as the media participated in the event at Phoenicia Hotel in Beirut.

  

 

According to Dr. Lamia Mansour, senior policy expert of GFA, "this guide offers an unparalleled compilation of information related to environmental management at the local level. It also covers the main aspects related the critical environmental situations in Lebanon, as well as the environmental impacts of the Syrian conflict".
