On 13th March 2018, the Vice Presidency of Guatemala officially launched the Rural Education Project V “PROEDUC V” (Programa de Educación Rural V), co-financed by the KfW Development Bank. The Vice President of the Republic and the Minister of Education opened the event, together with representatives of the German Embassy, KfW and GFA Consulting Group.

GFA will assist the Ministry of Education (MINEDUC) in the planning, implementation and coordination of the PROEDUC V, which has a budget of around 28 million euros. The project aims to improve education in the diversified middle school cycle, offering technical education and training to disadvantaged youths. The goal is to help expand and improve access to quality vocational education. It is geared to the needs of the labor market for poor young people, especially indigenous people living in rural areas affected by international migration. Six of the country's departments will benefit from newly constructed or refurbished technical training centres, including infrastructure and workshop equipment, newly developed technical careers, and trained teachers, as well as a fellowship and internship program.
