Sustainable Conservation Management in Sub-Saharan Africa 20 Years of Experience in Keeping the Balance between Conservation and Development
Across the globe, awareness is growing that nature and climate protection implies a close connection of resource utilisation in the developed and the developing countries. With its vast nature reserves - in many cases overlapping national boundaries and still in a virtually pristine state - Africa is at the centre of the international efforts to achieve sustainable conservation management.
GFA has been involved for over 20 years in assisting African public institutions, private organizations and the population in protecting their natural resources and at the same time linking conservation to development perspectives. Success stories are important to show what approaches in conservation in a specific regional context are feasible. GFA has published a short brochure with success stories to show what can be achieved when different stakeholders jointly pursue the goal of conservation through development.
