C³ TRAINER: Upgrading didactical skills in the health sector

The project "Multisectoral Food and Nutrition Security in Cambodia" is part of the German Government’s global One World – No Hunger Initiative and its “Food and Nutrition Security, Enhanced Resilience Programme”. C³ training activities were related to Component 1: "Capacity Development of Health Personnel” of the project, aiming at strengthening the competency of health personal to provide effective nutrition advice and nutrition education to health service clients (women and children, and family caregivers). The training program envisaged to enrol staff from at least 50 health centres in the two project provinces Kampot and Kampong Thom and to train and re-train on nutrition and nutrition education, through a series of short courses.

In this context a two-day workshop for nutrition master trainers was held in Phnom Penh. The workshop focussed on modern training and moderation techniques by using adult learning methods and the C³ training methodology. It had 32 participants. 26 were staff members and nutrition foci from the National Nutrition Program, the Provincial Health Department (PHD), the Maternal and Child Health Centres? (MCH) and the Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses Section (IMCI). Regionally participants originated from the two project provinces (Kampong Thom and Kampot). Another six participants were part of the project’s technical long-term and short term staff and only took part as guests on the second day. In total there were 15 women and 17 men present during the 16 hours courrse.
