Guided by a human-centered approach and endorsing the Principles for Digital Development, GFA`s Digital Innovation Unit (DIU) emphasizes data solutions that meet the specific needs of clients and communities served. By harnessing the power of data and technology, the DIU aims at tackling the most pressing global challenges and building data literacy at the local level. The DIUĀ“s team is interdisciplinary and globally connected. Its technically and methodologically versed experts combine data, IT, design, innovation and policy expertise.

Your tasks

Under guiding of the AI steering group and in coordination with the AI officer:

  • Assess the technical feasibility of AI use cases in GFA 
  • Assist in requirements analysis and specification 
  • Contribute to  cost-benefit assessments of AI use cases in GFA, incl. infrastructure and maintenance requirements
  • Develop pilot solutions (e.g. chatbots, process automation tools) for use cases in coordination with our IT (GFA Digital, Syscom) 
  • Pilot testing of solutions and rollout in collaboration with our IT dpartment, if applicable 
  • Support the deployment of new solutions or intergration of AI technonologies into existing systems 
  • Document and communicate technical concepts and solutions effectively

In the DIU: 

  • Actively contribute to the assessment, piloting and development of AI-based services and solutions for our clients 
  • Actively contribute to the development of non-AI-based data services for our clients, such as e.g. classical data analytics projects
  • Write technical proposals for the acquisition of new projects in the field of AI and data-driven solutions 
  • Actively communicate with non-technical team members, clients,  and partners 
  • Elaboration of reports, concepts and presentations

Your profile

University degree (MA) in computer science, economics, statistics, data science, physics mathematics or another degree with a strong quantitative focus 

At least 2 years of relevant work experience in the context of public sector AI or digitalization and data in development cooperation or for sustainable development, ideally including in digital product or service development 

 Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI, machine learning, and computer vision 

Software Development skills, several of the following: 

  • Python (FastAPI) 
  • Microservice design, API design 
  • Docker, design of Docker images, container orchestration 
  • Databases: Postgres 
  • Deployment pipelines, server configurationw with Nginx 

Machine Learning experience: 

  • Design, deployment and management of Vector/Graph Databases
  • Python AI and GenAI Frameworks and NLP Frameworks/libraries 
  • Azure Machine Learning: set-up and management of compute spaces 

Basic knowledge know-how of IT systems, webarchitectures, data protection concepts 

Ideally: knowledge of statistical analysis and data visualization tools 

Full proficiency in written and spoken English. German and French are an asset

Strong writing, communication and presentation skills

Proactive and self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and grow
