Call for experts in Environmental Management and ESG Auditing in the extractive sector

Projekt-Consult GmbH – as a member of the GFA Group – has gained a unique experience in consulting on responsible mining and sourcing of minerals since 1979. The company has in-depth knowledge of the upstream extractive supply chain, focusing on the people and countries involved in mining.
Projekt-Consult is constantly looking to expand its network for short or long-term assignments for the different stages of our tendering processes (forecast, pre-qualification, request for submitting a tender) and for our projects already in the implementation phase.

Job description
We´re currently looking for experts in "Environmental Management and ESG Auditing in the extractive sector" to support us in carrying out our projects and studies in the following areas:
- Conducting environmental and social impact assessments as well as audits and/or environmental monitoring and control (EMC) inspections of ASM and industrial mine sites, based on ESG principles and on certification standards such as IRMA and CopperMark;
- Field-based geochemical and environmental analyses including environmental sampling;
- Development of EMC guidelines for government agencies and improvement of internal procedures for strengthening environmental governance;
- Rehabilitation of contaminated sites and mine closure;
- Training needs assessment and capacity building of local experts and government officials;
Qualifications
- Education: University degree (Masters or Ph.D.) in geology, geography, mining, environmental science with a focus on the mining sector, geochemical or environmental analysis;
- Languages: Full proficiency in written and spoken English and at least one of the following languages: French, Spanish, Portuguese and/or Russian;
- Excellent communication and reporting skills;
General Professional Experience:
- At least 5 years of work experience in one of the main tasks mentioned above in projects and studies financed by private companies or on behalf of development cooperation agencies and banks (GIZ, BGR, UN organisations, EU, WB, EBRD, Swiss Cooperation or others);
Specific professional experience:
- Proven experience with a variety of commodities (gold, copper-cobalt, 3T minerals, iron ore, bauxite, REE, lithium, nickel), ideally also with other energy transition minerals;
- Regional experience: Sub-Sahara Africa (especially francophone), Central and/or South-east Asia or Latin America;
