In the Digital Services Innovation Unit we focus on consultancy services related to digital innovations for our projects and services.
For our head office in Hamburg/Germany, we are currently looking for an open-minded Junior Professional (m/f) to join our Digital Services Innovation Unit, who will contribute towards achieving the company’s objectives.

Job description

As a Junior Professional, you will work under guidance of a senior consultant with increasing responsibility in the areas of project management, acquisition and business development in all areas related to digital innovation and the integration of digital solutions in our projects with a particular focus on the field of data (collection, transformation, management, analysis, presentation).
The duty station will be Hamburg, with frequent travel to developing countries. Key responsibilities to be gradually developed will include:

  • Support to the building up the digital innovation field of work within GFA
  • Services to all GFA business areas in the fields of:
    • acquisition process of new projects, including elaboration and coordination of technical proposals in close cooperation with the responsible consultant,
    • advise on introduction and implementation of digital innovation in our running projects
  • Data collection, management, analysis, presentation and related work as part of project management or M&E systems;
  • Capitalization of experiences within GFA and across departmental borders;
  • Establishing and maintaining regular professional contacts as well as networking with clients, partner companies and sector experts;
  • Participating in feasibility and project preparatory studies as well as in short-term consultancy missions;
Writing of reports, concepts and presentations as well as contributing to knowledge and quality management, including GFA publications.


  • University degree (Master) in a relevant area, such as economics, statistics, data science, mathematics, computer science or another degree with a proven quantitative focus
  • Relevant experience in the context of development cooperation is an asset, preferably related to monitoring and evaluation of projects or digital4development / ICT4D
  • Advanced knowledge of data processing or analysis tools such as R or STATA is a prerequisite, GIS experience is an asset
  • Full proficiency in written and spoken English, working knowledge of German, additionally working knowledge of French is an asset
  • First experience with the German (GIZ, KfW) or European development sector (such as EBRD, EuropeAid, EIB) and a basic understanding of the strategies and programmes of the relevant donor agencies would be an asset;
  • Affinity for working in an agile and fast-changing environment
  • Strong writing, communication and presentation skills
  • Willingness to frequently travel abroad
  • Intercultural competence
