Continental meeting on harmonization in digitalization in Addis Ababa
The Policy and Regulatory Initiative for a Digital Africa (PRIDA) organized a continental meeting on harmonization in digitalization in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 2-6 Sept, 2019. PRIDA is the flagship project of the cooperation on digitalization between the African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU). The project contributes to boosting digital transformation on the African continent, benefiting from the exchange of experience between the two unions.
The workshop has brought together more than 140 experts and senior government officials from more than 50 African countries. Triggered by the Cairo Declaration in 2008, the African Union initiated a series of initiatives in relation to the harmonization of information and communications technologies (ICT). The goal of the meeting has been to jointly identify a monitoring and evaluation tool and agree on the next steps to better adapt to the challenges of digital transformation.
The PRIDA Technical Assistance Team, led by GFA Consulting Group, also works on supporting the AU Commission to develop a continental approach on internet governance and increase awareness regarding the impact of ICT on other sectors.
