Three years after the Arab Spring, more than 350 million people in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region have been affected by significant transformation processes. BMZ has set up a special initiative “Stabilization and Development in North Africa and the Middle East” to meet the growing challenges.

Within this framework, GFA has been awarded the project “More job opportunities for young people through dual study programs” in the Palestinian territories. The project, launched in February 2015, aims at fostering the employability of the young. To this effect, GFA together with the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) and the Steinbeis Business Academy introduces an innovative approach of dual higher education at the Al-Quds University (AQU) that combines on-the-job training and academic studies. AQU will offer labour market-oriented study programs in IT, electrical engineering and economics. The GFA team of experts will set up a new faculty under the umbrella of the university and develop tailor-made curricula, study courses and practical guidelines. Moreover, GFA will establish cooperation networks between the university and the industrial sector, and will train multipliers for in-company training.
