GFA newsletter June 2018: DUAL TVET – CATALYSING EMPLOYMENT POSSIBILITIES BY LINKING THEORY AND PRACTICE

Posted on 28 Jun, 2018 by Anja Desai

Inclusive and quality education as well as the promotion of employment and decent work for all are two of the United Nations’ sustainable development goals. Sustainable, high-quality vocational training is necessary to promote employment opportunities and life-long-learning. GFA’s TVET projects aim at improving education systems in partner countries worldwide and creating sustainable job prospects for graduates. In many instances, the German dual TVET system guides our international work in the technical and vocational training field. The approach is recognized worldwide for effectively combining theoretical and practical training to create a highly skilled workforce. The system can certainly not be transferred to other countries as a whole. But its key feature can be applied in different contexts, i.e. systematically involving the private sector as client of TVET and future employers of graduates in the development, implementation and certification of training programs.
