Make milk, make money - Promoting young entrepreneurs in rural Mongolia

Posted on 29 Jan, 2018 by Benedikt Coekoll and Stefanie Feilke

Ya Chagnaadorj is a young entrepreneur in Bayankhongor district in Southern Mongolia who set up a dairy business at the age of 21. He and his wife Bayasgalan have benefitted from the Vocational Education and Training Project and the Youth Employment Promotion Project (YEPP), both funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and implemented by experts of GFA since 2012. What started with just six milking cows has become a thriving business. The enterprise's yoghurt products can soon be enjoyed all over the vast country.

Chagnaadorj and Bayasgalan were able to expand their dairy processing business thanks to tailored training and focused advise by the GFA team. They also won a start-up business development competition among youth in Bayankhongor which was organized by the YEP project in 2016.
