On 15 Jan 2019, the Reflection Committee (RC) of the Strengthening the Photovoltaic Market project convened in Tunis for its third meeting to discuss the state of activities undertaken since mid 2018. The project is implemented by GIZ, commissioned by BMZ, and the National Agency for Energy Conservation (ANME) in cooperation with the Agricultural Investment Promotion Agency (APIA). It aims at integrating solar photovoltaics in the agriculture and agri-food industries sector at the national level and in three regions of the country: Sfax, Gabes and Jendouba. Five GFA technical energy and agriculture experts have been supporting GIZ in the implementation of the project.

In this context, the RC brings together key players in the sector such as the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries (MARHP), ANME, APIA, the Tunisian Union for Agriculture and Fishery (UTAP) and the Agricultural Training and Extension Agency (AVFA).

On July 5 and October 3, 2018 the RC had discussed awareness raising, training and pilot projects related to the application of photovoltaic in the agricultural and agri-food industries sector, and triggered follow-up activities.
