Up-scaling Basic Sanitation for the Urban Poor (UBSUP)

This year's theme for the World Toilet Day on 19 Nov, 2017 was  wastewater. Around 60% of the global population, or 4.5 billion people, either have no toilet at home or a lavatory that doesn’t safely manage excreta.

GFA supports the implementation of the Up-scaling Basic Sanitation for the Urban Poor (UBSUP) program within the framework of the GIZ Water Sector Reform program in Kenya. Country-wide UBSUP aims at providing access to basic household sanitation across all urban low income areas. The program covers the entire sanitation service chain from toilet to treatment and has so far reached around 125,000 people.
