Access to finance for MSMEs - Bank downscaling in Morocco

Morocco
GIZ, 2010 - 2013
Contract value: 1,295,000 EUR

PHASE I - The project aimed to reduce the MSME finance gap. Increased access to financial services enabled MSMEs to contribute to economic growth and employment generation.
In collaboration with the Moroccan Bankers Association (GPBM), GFA provided technical assistance to a number of selected commercial banks. Our team supported their efforts to design tailored products and adequate services to MSMEs (downscaling). In addition, GFA supported the GPBM in facilitating communication between banks, the central guarantee fund (Caisse de Centrale Garantie) in refining their guarantee product for loans to MSMEs, and the banks in their compliance with Central Bank (Banque Al Maghrib) policies. Finally, GFA developed and implemented wide-ranging financial education trainings.
