Since the Safe Blood Transfusion Program (SBT) is in charge of the overall supervision of blood transfusion system, the technical staff is the immediate counterpart. Four key areas of the technical assistance were identified: the provision of advisory services in relation to policy and legislation, the elaboration and implementation of a QM system in blood transfusion, the training of health workers and the management of voluntary, non-remunerated donors.
