The feasibility study "Promotion of reproductive health and family planning in Guinea" had the objective to explore the content of a future project for the promotion of reproductive health and family planning in Guinea. The focus was on the promotion of sexual and reproductive health. The maternal and neonatal death rate in Guinea stays alleviated and it was impossible to achieve MDG 4 and 5 by 2015. The challenges in the health sector of Guinea at this time were the following:

1. A need for strengthening the financing of the health sector in a generally impoverished context.
2. Urgent need for investments especially in the area of midwivery and neonatal care.
3. Need for strengthening the capacity of health providers including the motivation of staff.
