Global Project Employment in rural areas with focus on Youth - Country Package Kenya (RYE)
Youth unemployment is widespread in Kenya. The project "Global project Rural employment with a focus on youth – Country Package Kenya "(RYE) aims to create employment opportunities for young people in rural Western Kenya. The project is part of the AgriJobs 4 Youth Initiative of GIZ. Its objective is to increase the potential for employment and self-employment in the agri-food sector. To tap into the high potential for economic growth potential in rural agricultural and agribusiness sectors, the GFA team activities implemented by GFA address bottlenecks affecting access to inputs, services and markets for agripreneurs. Enhancing the capacity of entrepreneurs in agriculture and agribusiness to utilize quality inputs and services will lead to higher productivity, fewer post-harvest losses, improved product quality and higher income. At the same time, modern and innovative approaches in agriculture will attract youth into the sector and create additional employment and self-employment opportunities. At the end of the intervention, it is expected that more than 7,000 agripreneurs will have improved access to inputs and services, and 2,500 persons will have found new or additional employment in the five target counties, Kisumu, Kakamega, Vihiga, Siaya and Bungoma.
