Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Finance for Employment Promotion (phase II)

Tunisia
KfW, 2019 - 2023
Contract value: 4,000,000 EUR

After the successful implementation of the first phase, KfW in agreement with the Tunisian Government, represented by the Ministry of Finance, and the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) is making available a credit line of up to EUR 140 million to seven partnering financial institutions (PFIs) (four banks and three leasing companies) to promote access to finance for very small, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).

The project supports the PFIs in defining and implementing a MSME strategy, designing and implementing specific MSME credit assessment tools and methodologies, developing tailored financial products adapted to the MSME segment, and in improving credit, operational and environmental risk management. In addition, the project provides technical assistance to BCT in the development of a management and monitoring tool for the KfW credit line. In close coordination with other existing programs, the project further supports the development and implementation of training and support measures for MSMEs.
