Pre-feasibility study for: Strengthening the wastewater management sector in urban and peri-urban centres
The project focused on enhancing wastewater management in urban and peri-urban areas of Burkina Faso. Led by ONEA, it intended to strengthen the sanitation infrastructure through the development of centralised and decentralised treatment facilities such as faecal sludge treatment plants. The target areas were Bobo-Dioulasso and possibly Ouagadougou, although an expansion to other regions was an option depending on the security situation. Estimated at 10–50 million euros, the project prioritised sustainable solutions, financial feasibility, and community involvement to improve access to sanitation, reduce health risks, and promote environmental sustainability.
