Egypt
EIB, 2020 - 2023
Contract value: 999,970 EUR

On behalf of EIB, GFA supported the Pan-African Development Bank Afreximbank to foster medium to long-term lending to SMEs and Midcaps in Sub-Saharan Africa. The overall objective of the technical assistance operation was to ensure an effective and efficient use of two EIB loan facilities towards the financing of financially, technically, economically, socially and environmentally viable private sector projects, by building capacity in strategic key areas relevant to Afreximbank’s business, particularly with regards to its strategy for promoting export development and investments in trade related infrastructure. GFA strengthened Afreximbank’s capacity in financial and technical project evaluation, preparation and structuring, including project finance for climate action. The focus was on environmental, social and gender scoping and impact assessments. In addition, the project provided support to current and potential private sector final beneficiaries in the development and implementation of bankable projects.
