Urban and Regional Cooperation with high income countries in Asia/Pacific - IURC II
The EU-Asia and Australasia Urban and Regional Cooperation Project promotes collaboration between cities and regions in the EU, Japan, the Republic of Korea, China, Hong Kong SAR, Taiwan, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, India and Malaysia, helping them to address local development challenges and drive green and digital transitions. Aligning with key global and EU policy frameworks, including the EU Green Deal, the Paris Climate Agreement, and the UN New Urban Agenda, the project strengthens ties and connectivity to promote sustainable urban development and regional innovation.
The project aims to enhance cooperation between EU and non-EU cities on sustainable urban development, facilitate regional innovation partnerships in Australia, Japan and the Republic of Korea, and establish an EU-led network of urban excellence to share best practice. Additionally, it supports EU businesses in urban innovation and services, excluding China and Hong Kong SAR. Through these efforts, the project promotes climate-friendly, inclusive, and smart urban solutions across Asia and Australasia.
