Community forestry guidelines approved

The Peoples Committee of Dak Lak temporarily approved the guidelines on community forestry and forest land allocation as province standard on 2 of November, 2009. The guidelines include community forestry management planning with benefit sharing mechanisms, silviculture as well as forest protection and development regulations. These guidelines were developed and successfully applied on pilot scale with the support of local communities and in close cooperation with the forest development and forest protection departments as well as with Tay Nguyen University since 2004. They will now be in place in Dak Lak until a new forestry legislation is developed and approved on national level.
