2nd Workshop on National Level in Zagreb, Croatia

Second Croatian NSDI and INSPIRE Workshop was held on 19th and 20th February 2013 in Zagreb, at Faculty of Geodesy.

The most important part of workshop was focused on legal issues related to transposition of INSPIRE Directive (2007/2/EC) into Croatian national legislation. Extensive debate on Draft Law on National Spatial Data Infrastructure took place where crucial points were discussed. Especially on the first day a smaller group of selected participants had opportunity to express their suggestions, opinions, critics and proposals in regard to proposed Draft Law.

Participants also took part in creation and debated on Customization of INSPIRE brochure for Croatia. Interesting proposals occurred on brochure content, layout and visual attractiveness that would bring closer the importance of INSPIRE and (N)SDI to broader public.

Second day of the workshop, open to the wider audience, gathered more than 100 participants, which leads to conclusion that Croatian stakeholders are interested in SDI. Topics were mainly dealing with broader context when discussing SDI, such as general legal and political framework of the EU and general overview of the INSPIRE Directive which were covered by INSPIRATION team members Fritz Kroiss and Christian Ansorge. On behalf of State Geodetic Administration spoke Tomislav Ciceli, Head of Department for NSDI coordination, who focused his presentation on issues related to NSDI/INSPIRE implementation in Croatia.

In the last part of the workshop, participants could hear general information about Croatian E-Government strategy, Business opportunities and risks related to INSPIRE, language problems related to NSDI etc. Throughout the whole workshop day, participants actively took part in discussing all mentioned topics.
Even though this workshop is the last Croatian national workshop organized by INSPIRATION project, Croatian State Geodetic Administration will continue to organize similar workshops for stakeholders and also for wider public.
