Regional Conference on Capacity Building and Education, Durrës, Albania

On 05th March 2013 representatives from all seven INSPIRATION beneficiary countries will meet in second largest city of Albania, situated at one of the narrower points of Adriatic sea - Durrës. It is one of the oldest cities in Albania, founded it the 7th Century BC and is full of significant historic sites such as largest amphitheatre in the whole Balkans.
 
Besides enjoying beauty and rich history of Durrës, participants of the Conference will have great opportunity to hear valuable information on Capacity Building and Education. One-day Conference is divided in three sections in which interesting and significant topics will be presented by experienced experts in the field.
 
  • First section Education in SDI provides GIS and SDI education as well as best practices and examples from all around the EU. Furthermore, one of the major results of INSPIRATION project was a Study dealing with the current demand and the availability for education and capacity building regarding SDI in the region. Some of the issues and conclusions of the Study will be presented and debated.
  • Second section is on Remote Sensing. Even though Remote Sensing represents a major, independent topic, it can be observed as a matter closely related to GIS and SDI. It faces similar issues as GIS and SDI in terms of needs for education and capacity building. Therefore this section aims at presenting approaches and best practices regarding education for Remote Sensing.
  • Last section is dedicated to Education and Capacity Building Methodology. The scope of this section is to reflect up to date methodologies and issues in terms of education, not necessarily related to the actual topic. Therefore, this section aims at focusing on different approaches and shall give an insight in the development of teaching techniques. Beside the already widely applied eLearning as specific tool, ideas such as Life Long Learning (LLL) or Continues Processional Development (CPD) shall be given space.
 
In the end sufficient amount of time will be provided for discussion, disputable issues and questions. Finally, winner of the Ideas Competition will be announced.
