Special Workshop for New NSDI Law for Kosovo*

Leading consultants and experts of the INSPIRATION project and seven delegates of Kosovo Cadastral Agency met on 22 and 23 April 2013 in Pristina. The aim of this extra working session was to intensively discuss draft of new NSDI law for Kosovo and provide consultancy and recommendations for its better preparation.
Throughout both working days all presentations were given by Tomaž Petek and Martin Koska. Presentations covered wide range of topics such as: INSPIRE & NSDI, Legal framework of INSPIRE and SDI, Identification of user needs, roles and responsibilities, Slovenian law about spatial data infrastructure etc. but always putting special emphasis on relevance of all provided information for Kosovo and its new SDI law.
Participants of working session were especially satisfied with joint recommendations and conclusions that occurred at the end of the workshop. Here are most of the recommendations listed:
Identify all relevant data producers/responsible stakeholders
Collect lists of available datasets/responsibility for data sets and coordination with all relevant data providers
Describe datasets by metadata
Identify frequently used datasets as reference
Analyze data with respect of INSPIRE requirements
Publish discovery service for publishing metadata online
Publish view service to see KCA data
Publish download service to download KCA data
Develop a new law and a data sharing strategy on the legal and policy level
Prepare NSDI STATE of PLAY for Kosovo
