Study visit to Ispra and Vienna

INSPIRATION project financially supports study visit to Ispra and Vienna for three participants from each of the beneficiary organizations. Participants will have the opportunity to visit Joint Research Centre situated in Ispra, close to Milan, Italy, on 8th October. JRC Digital Earth and Reference Data Unit coordinates the scientific and technical development of the European INSPIRE Directive, supports its implementation and leads research towards the next generation environmental information infrastructures at European and Global level. In order to make INSPIRE a reality, the Unit acts as overall scientific-technical coordinator of INSPIRE, guaranteeing the exchange of information between INSPIRE drafting teams, thematic working groups and the Initial Operating Capability Task Force. Participants will be able to get insight and better understanding of INSPIRE implementation process and its legal obligations and will discuss practical issues in their National Spatial Data Infrastructure and INSPIRE implementation. Furthermore, they will establish contact and network with JRC staff responsible for supporting INSPIRE. On 9th October study tour group will visit Umweltbundesamt - Austria’s biggest expert organization in the field of the environment, located in Vienna and on 10th Bundesamt für Eich und Vermessungswesen the Austrian federal NMCA in charge of cadastre and mapping. Participants will get overview of Umweltbundesamt activities regarding INSPIRE, SEIS and GMES and will be introduced to Austrian SDI law and the practical INSPIRE implementation on the use case of water or land cover data. Furthermore, they will get acquainted monitoring and reporting regarding INSPIRE implementation in Austria and with Austrian Cadastre and topographic mapping. Experience and knowledge participants will gain at study tour will be useful for further work on SDI and INSPIRE implementation within the INSPIRATION beneficiary organizations.
