Climate Sensitive Waste Management
The overall project objective is to provide technical assistance and strengthen capacity of the selected LSGs to better plan, prepare, and carry out high-impact city-level investments that promote sustainable, low-carbon urban development and urban resilience selected LSGs: To increase exposure and awareness of national policy makers and participating city and municipal officials to best practices for sustainable and resilient urban development, through broad knowledge sharing actions, including on-job trainings, study visits, city-to-city peer learning, technical deep dives and networking events.
The purpose of the project is to carry out in-depth assessment and diagnosis in 10 secondary and medium-sized cities and further in-depth engagement in selected 5-7 secondary and medium-sized cities to strengthen their capacity to plan, prepare, and carry out urban development projects that will help cities to plan for more sustainable, low-carbon and resilient urban development.
The specific results are:
- Strengthened capacities to diagnose and assess sustainable, low-carbon, and resilient urban development needs and improve investment prioritization and identification of potential funding sources in the selected LSGs.
- Strengthened capacities to improve sustainable urban development planning, including incorporation of climate change mitigation and adaptation considerations in the selected LSGs.
