What to do if the negotiations fail and why is it important to know it even before you start negotiating?
How to invent options for mutual gain and why you should not feed the wolves?
We were looking to answers to these and other questions at the Negotiations training delivered on 17-18 September by the Association 4U Training Team.
With the expert assistance of highly-qualified trainer Frank Little civil servants of line Ministries and Anti-Monopoly Committee of Ukraine and Junior Fellows of the Association4U project practiced lobbying and mandate negotiations, analyzed parties involved in a conflict and their underlying interests and mastered their skills through practical exercises and role games.
The training introduced civil servants and A4U fellows to non-power-play approaches to negotiations and helped them to improve their ability to negotiate ethically and effectively in any situation.

On September 17, 2018, the International Conference “Improving the Methodology, Practice and Quality of Legislative Process and Legal Drafting” initiated and supported by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, EU Delegation and EU funded Projects EU4PAR and Association4U. The topic concerned the effectiveness of the legislative process in Ukraine, methods of its improvement and sharing the experience of some of the EU Member States with the aim to get ideas of dealing with the major issues of Ukraine on its way to the legislative approximation with the European Union in the framework of the Association Agreement.

Recently, SIGMA Programme has introduced the report on the performance of Ukraine in 2017 in approaching the Principles of Public Administration (in terms of the Public Administration Reform – PAR) for the EU candidate countries and potential candidates. On May 21-24, 2018, the A4U Training Team delivered the “Evidence-Based Policy-Making” short training course for newly appointed experts from different ministries of Ukraine and A4U fellows. The aim of the course is to introduce the audience to the structured policy-making techniques and apply them to the real-life scenarios. This short course was hosted in the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

On April 11-12, 2018, the A4U Training Team delivered a two-day training “Introduction to AA/DCFTA” for civil servants of different state bodies and for Junior Fellows of the A4U Project. The training took place at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv basis. It was aimed to introduce the participants to general provisions of AA/DCFTA, its principles, tools and the way of implementation.
