The objective of the project is to demonstrate the technical and economical feasibility of pro-poor REDD approaches in the National Protected Areas (NPA) Nam Poui and Nam Et Phoui Loi in Laos. This includes support to reduce emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in and around the selected NPAs through improved NPA Management, forest law enforcement and by improving the socio-economic conditions of the resident rural population. Furthermore, the project will support REDD monitoring and accounting as well as the establishment of REDD financial mechanisms.
