The module objective was sustainable management and protection of forest ecosystems as a contribution to enhanced biodiversity values and climate change mitigation while simultaneously providing increased livelihood opportunities for the local population. The project promoted an integrated forest management as a measure to decrease CO2 emissions with a focus on natural and planted production and protection forest resources, which at the same time provides opportunities to link ecosystem integrity with livelihood improvement of the forest dependent population. The project also demonstrated effective biodiversity protection of protected area forest ecosystems through engagement of the local population in performance based protection and monitoring agreements.
