Your tasks
- Hands-on business development:
- Partner and customer acquisition, networking with donor agencies, beneficiaries, partner companies or institutions, subcontractors and experts, including fact-finding missions
- Acquisition of new projects, including elaboration and coordination of technical and financial proposals in the fields of Private Sector Development and/or TVET and Employment Promotion for GIZ, KfW, EU, SDC and other donors
- Management of ongoing projects (Hamburg-based backstopping), i.e., financial and technical administration
- Representing GFA in conferences, business fora and/or seminars
- Elaboration of concepts, presentations and pitches
- Active contribution to the further development of the thematic fields of the PSE department
- Supporting on-the-job-training of our Junior Professionals
Your profile
- University degree (MA) in economics, social science, development studies or similar
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience in the context of development cooperation
- Proven professional experience related to entrepreneurship, SMEs development, Business Development Services, capacity development of public and private partners, Skills Development, employment promotion, and labor market reform
- Familiarity with the German (GIZ, KfW) and European development sector (e.g., EuropeAid, EIB), and Development Banks; a profound understanding of the strategies and policies of the relevant donor agencies will be an asset
- Working experience in developing countries and/or threshold countries. Working experience as well as interest in working in South-Eastern Europe, Caucasus, Near-& Middle East is a strong asset
- Full proficiency in written and spoken English and working knowledge of German and/or intermediate level in Russian, Arabic or Serbo-Croat is considered an asset
- Willingness to travel and a strong drive for business development, pitches, technical proposals, building and maintaining strong networks with clients, experts and partners
- Strong writing, communication and presentation skills
- Ability to manage complex situations under tight schedules
