The Health Department currently has 22 employees and is divided into two portfolios. The department offers consultancy services related to:
- Infectious Diseases and Pandemic Prevention and Response;
- Maternal, Newborn and Child Health; Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights;
- Building Resilient Health Systems and Promoting Health;
- Non-Communicable Diseases and Mental Health;
- Digital Health;
- One Health;
- Nutrition and Food Security.

Your tasks
- Acquisition of new projects, including elaboration and coordination of technical and financial proposals in the field of public health;
- Management of ongoing projects and studies (backstopping) on site and Hamburg-based (financial and technical administration, monitoring and evaluation of projects and studies);
- Networking with donor agencies, beneficiaries, partner companies or institutions, subcontractors and experts;
- Conducting fact-finding and technical short-term consultancy missions;
- Elaboration of reports, concepts and presentations and contribution to knowledge and quality management;
- Active contribution to the further development of the thematic areas mentioned above;
- Representing GFA in conferences and seminars;
- Supporting on-the-job-training of our Junior Professionals.
Your profile
- A post-graduate university degree in a relevant field, e.g. Public Health, International or Global Health, Medical Sciences, Social Sciences, or another field relevant to international development assistance in health;
- A minimum of five years’ experience in project management;
- At least three years’ experience in international development cooperation;
- Experience in consulting and/or advisory services;
- Familiarity with procurement and tendering procedures of funding agencies in the health sector is an asset;
- Excellent writing skills, preferably with experience in writing technical reports or project proposals;
- Proven ability to work in a team with other professionals in a multicultural context;
- Willingness to travel;
- Full proficiency in French and English. Knowledge of German is an asset;
- Strong negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills;
- Stress-resistant, pragmatic, flexible with improvisation skills but with a punctilious attitude towards your own work.
