The Just Energy Transition (JET) has become a pivotal element in global climate policy, promoting energy systems that are both low-carbon and socially equitable. JET aims to accelerate the transition from fossil-based to renewable energy systems while ensuring social justice, economic inclusivity, and community resilience, particularly for communities and sectors directly impacted by energy transitions. Since 2020, GFA has actively engaged in international JET initiatives, supporting various development cooperation projects financed by international development agencies such as GIZ, SECO and MCC. With extensive expertise, GFA has assisted numerous countries including Ukraine, South Africa, Tunisia, Indonesia, and Viet Nam in developing and implementing policy, regulatory frameworks, strategies, and practical interventions facilitating a Just Energy Transition. Drawing on this extensive experience across diverse geographical contexts, we have delivered tailored solutions for enabling policy and regulatory environments, just transition roadmaps, socioeconomic assessments, capacity building, and stakeholder engagement processes. These services include, inter alia:

  • Development of actionable roadmaps, strategies and policies
  • Environmental and socioeconomic impact assessments
  • Development and implementation of women empowerment
  • Implementation of comprehensive stakeholder engagement and communication measures
  • Development of workforce transition plans
  • Development of community benefit programs
  • Providing financing-transaction advisory for JET-related projects

Job description

To further enhance our expert network, we continuously seek experienced JET experts to support our growing portfolio of international projects. 

If you have demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following fields of activity, please register your CV with us: 

a. Development of actionable roadmaps, strategies, and policies related to Just Energy Transition

b. Conducting environmental and socioeconomic impact assessments in transitioning energy sectors

c. Design and implementation of women empowerment initiatives within energy transition contexts

d. Comprehensive stakeholder engagement and effective communication measures

e. Design and implementation of workforce transition plans, including skills and vocational training

f. Creation and management of community benefit programs linked to energy transitions

g. Financing and transaction advisory for JET-related investments and projects

h. Institutional and capacity development related to governance and management of Just Energy Transition processes

i. Advocacy, public relations, communication, and social media strategies specifically tailored for Just Energy Transition topics

j. Gender mainstreaming and social inclusion in JET programs and policies  

Qualifications

Education:
Candidates must possess a university degree (Diploma/Master) in Environmental Studies, Energy Economics, Engineering (Environmental/Industrial/Energy), Economics, Social Sciences, Political Science, Law/Jurisprudence, Development Studies, Communication, or a related field relevant to the JET thematic area.
 

Languages:
Fluency in English (C1) is essential. Fluency in a second language (C2), as per the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, is advantageous.
 

General Professional Experience:
Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in the energy sector, sustainable development, international cooperation, climate policy, or related areas.
 

Specific Professional Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of specific experience in renewable energy, energy transitions, climate policy, or socioeconomic analysis related to energy. Furthermore, at least 3 years of specific professional experience in one or more of the listed fields of activity (a.–j.) above is required.
