Project description

This project aims to provide the comprehensive technical assistance in the gas sector with the main focus on the analysis of potential use of the gas pipelines as well as the gas storages for the purpose of hydrogen transit and storage and also to support the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine developing key areas of state policy on renewable gases, ensuring alignment with the EU’s acquis on renewable gases. It is expected that the results of the project will contribute to creation of the hydrogen market in Ukraine and implementation of the relevant gas sector reforms.

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical components of the project including infrastructure assessments and feasibility studies.
  • Support policy team with inputs on renewable gas integration into legacy systems.
  • Advise on system investment needs, technical standards, and compliance with EU frameworks.
  • Provide training or mentoring to national technical staff and stakeholders.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements 

Education:

  • University degree (minimum Bachelor’s) in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related technical field.
General Experience:
  • At least 10 years of experience in the technical assessment or operation of gas transmission or storage systems.
  • Experience working on projects involving feasibility studies, technical audits, or gas system modernization.
Specific Experience:
  • At least 1 long-term project (12+ months) in the past 4 years related to:
    • Technical feasibility or audit for gas infrastructure operators (TSOs or SSOs),
    • Integration of renewable gases (e.g., biomethane, green hydrogen),
    • Infrastructure compatibility with EU regulatory and safety frameworks.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience in the technical assessment of gas pipelines, including integrity analysis, capacity evaluation, and compliance with EU safety and operational standards.
  • Familiarity with EU standards and regulatory frameworks (ENTSOG, ACER, etc.) and experience working in or for EU-aligned countries.
  • Experience preparing or reviewing CAPEX/OPEX models, network codes, or infrastructure investment strategies is a plus.
Language Skills:
  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken) – C1 level minimum
  • Ukrainian / Russian desirable, especially for interpreting legacy technical data or engaging with local engineers.
