Project description
GKW Consult, part of the GFA GROUP, is preparing a proposal for a KfW-financed Feasibility Study on Climate-Resilient Water Supply and Sanitation Systems. The study aims to assess technical, environmental, and financial feasibility for sustainable groundwater-based water supply solutions, including the use of horizontal wells. The project will be implemented in consortium with international and regional partners and will contribute to future KfW investment decisions in the water sector.
Job description
As Team Leader – Water & Sanitation Engineer (Groundwater & Horizontal Wells Expertise), you will lead a multidisciplinary team in preparing a feasibility study for climate-resilient water supply systems. The assignment focuses on groundwater abstraction through horizontal and collector wells, including assessing technical feasibility, design options, and sustainability aspects. You will coordinate field investigations, manage stakeholder consultations, and ensure high-quality deliverables in line with KfW and international standards.
Qualifications
General qualifications
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or another relevant field
- 10 years' work experience, of which at least 8 years in the water and sanitation sector
Specific requirements for the assignment
- Proven experience in preparation of feasibility studies for international donor agencies, preferably including KFW
- Proven experience in planning and design of water and sanitation supply infrastructure from 3 countries outside of Tanzania, work experience from long-term assignments in OECD country will be an advantage
- Experience in the design or construction of horizontal wells
- Team leader experience, communication and analytical skills, preferably by leading international and multidisciplinary teams for feasibility studies or as team leader for project implementation assignments in the water and sanitation sector
- Working experience in Africa (preferably East Africa) is required; work experience in Tanzania and knowledge of the national sector context is an advantage
- Long term affiliation to the leading consulting company through previous assignments is an advantage
