Project description

The assignment forms part of the GIZ-implemented project Strengthening Reproductive Health and Empowerment of Young Women (SRHEYW), which aims to improve reproductive autonomy and health outcomes for young women and newborns in Tanzania.

The project focuses on empowering adolescents and young people, particularly girls and young women, to make informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health. It strengthens SRHR knowledge and life skills through school-based and out-of-school youth clubs, promotes access to youth-friendly health services, and engages families, community leaders and local institutions to address harmful gender norms and create a supportive environment for young people's reproductive health and rights.

Special attention is given to gender transformative approaches , gender equality, disability inclusion and reaching vulnerable and marginalised young people.

  • Lead community engagement interventions, particularly collaboration with religious leaders, parents and influential community members to promote positive attitudes towards young people's access to SRHR services.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of communication campaigns, including coordination with partners, supervision of short-term experts and quality assurance of communication materials.
  • Ensure the integration of gender equality, disability inclusion, safeguarding and other cross-cutting considerations throughout project implementation.
