The EU-funded Supporting Public Health Institutes Program (SPHIP), duly supported by GFA, hosted a round table at this year’s World Congress on Public Health. Representatives from public health institutes (PHIs) in Bangladesh, Congo, Haiti, Lao PDR and Uganda came together under the title: Influencers or Followers? The Role of National PHIs in Low- and Middle-Income Countries. The panelists discussed various capabilities, opportunities and limitations of PHIs contributing to health policies and strategies in relation to global policies promoted by multilateral and United Nations institutions.

Over the past five years, GFA’s support team organized various activities for exchange and visibility, including annual seminars, newsletters, and social media communication. The team enabled members of the SPHIP projects to participate in thirteen public health conferences. giving more than fifty professionals from eight countries the opportunity to participate at these conferences.
