On 4 Nov 2019, Melanie Leonhard, Senator for Labor, Social Affairs, Family and Integration of the Hamburg Senate awarded GFA a certificate for family-friendly employment policies.  The label is granted by the Hamburg Alliance for Families, an initiative of the Hamburg Senate, the Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Trade. The related audit on family and work is recommended by leading trade associations (BDA, BDI, DIHK and ZDH), and is under the patronage of the Federal Ministries of Family and Economic Affairs. Checks are completed in frameworks conditions, reconciliation of work and family life, and supporting measures.

The certificate is awarded to companies that support employees in reconciliating career and family challenges. Such enterprises have proven a sustainable record of family-friendly employment policies and have committed themselves to develop these further. GFA family-friendly employment policies encompass measures regarding parental leave and care periods, and are based on three major pillars - gradual reentry through temporary work during parental leave, financial support to child care, and flexible working hours through part-time and home office employment.
