DAS HAUS – Energy Innovations Made in Germany on Tour in America
North America is the largest consumer of energy worldwide. No wonder that the demand for energy efficient and renewable energy technologies is growing rapidly in these markets. Germany is known for its high standards of technical and industrial systems and products. “Made in Germany” and “German engineering” are associated with innovation and dependable quality. This also holds true with respect to renewable energy, energy efficiency and energy consulting, where Germany has established itself as an international market leader and innovation driver.
For a year now, a mobile pavilion called DAS HAUS has been on tour in twelve major cities in the US and Canada, showcasing German innovations and advanced technologies for energy efficient housing construction and solar energy use. The traveling pavilion and the ongoing international dialogue are supported by the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Export Initiatives, two programs led by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. GFA staffs the coordination office to assist the Ministry with technical and organizational expertise in implementing the export initiatives. In this context, GFA consultants were mainly responsible for developing the DAS HAUS project and coordinating the road show in North America.
Features on DAS HAUS were broadcasted by numerous US and Canadian broadcasting stations, most recently on 24 September, 2012 by ABC in Chicago . The centerpiece of the tour is an integrated and fully-functional pavilion that presents solutions aimed at reducing a building’s energy demand and maximizing the efficiency of energy generated on-site. Visitors learn about this in an experiential, hands-on format. The techniques and technologies presented are applicable to a wide range of real-world applications and budget demands. DAS HAUS presents viable strategies with demonstrated and proven results ready for the challenges of today’s market, and positions the technology discussion as a platform to bring together industry experts and key decision makers essential to implementing these solutions.
All this is backed by the continuing support of the German American Chambers of Commerce (GACCs) and the Canadian German Chamber of Commerce and Industry in order to facilitate ongoing discussions and industry partnerships for years to come. As a project of the Energy Efficiency Export Initiative and the Renewable Energy Export Initiative, DAS HAUS is supported by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs.
