DIGITAL INNOVATION UNIT VISITS RWANDA FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF COOPERATION OPPORTUNITIES

The African continent remains the primary target region for GFA Consulting Group GmbH. East Africa has become a technology hub with many startups and research institutions driving impactful innovation. GFA´s Digital Innovation Unit has recently been involved in various projects in digital transformation in Rwanda, such as the development of a training program on Machine Learning for Earth Observation, the drafting of a regional AI Blueprint under the Smart Africa initiative, and the development of a national strategy for emerging technologies.

The DIU team visited some of our partners and clients in Rwanda and met new local companies and organizations active in digital transformation. We discussed and shared experiences regarding international cooperation with partners, IT developers, and data scientists. We also discussed possibilities for future partnerships and exchanged ideas on the realization of various projects aimed at reaching Sustainable Development Goals. The trip expanded on the DIU’s existing networks in Rwanda by leveraging existing contacts for intro-ductions to local companies and organizations who are working on the digital transformation of the country. These meetings will provide a renewed basis for future collaboration on development cooperation projects in the region. Next on our list is a trip to Kenya (Nairobi and Kisumu) at the end of November and we are looking forward to traveling to West Africa early next year.
