Erosion control program in Madagascar

Posted on 17 Apr, 2019 by Dr. Julius Arnegger

Impressive pictures from our Madagascar project, taken by our Consultant Dr. Julius Arnegger. The pictures show the regions of Ihorombe, Haute Matsiatra and Amoron'i Mania in the southern highlands of Madagascar, where GFA is implementing the KfW-funded program de Lutte Anti Erosive PLAE IV. Natural Erosion control measures with Vetiver grass enable local communities to safeguard and restore their agricultural lands. Reforestation for fuelwood production and agroforestry support people's livelihoods and reduce pressure on the remaining intact ecosystems and habitats.
