GERMAN-AFRICAN BUSINESS ASSOCIATION: GFA PRESENTS ITSELF IN ANNIVERSARY PUBLICATION
The German-African Business Association celebrates its 90th anniversary this year. Following a celebration at Hamburg's City Hall in May, a high-quality anniversary publication is now available. The recently published issue of "Afrika Wirtschaft" provides an overview of the history of the association, highlights current fields of activity in German-African relations and presents the activities of some of the approximately 500 member companies.
Among the companies profiled in the magazine is GFA Consulting Group, a member of the German-African Business Association. On four pages (see page 88 ff), the editorial team portrays GFA's work on the African continent - and asks the question: "What does international development cooperation really achieve?"
Answers are provided by GFA experts such as Henrik Uehlecke, head of the Climate and Energy Cluster. He cites a recent feasibility study on the South African hydrogen market as an example. With the knowledge gained, "we are creating the necessary framework conditions and standards and thus reducing the investment risk" to help green technology achieve a breakthrough locally.
From modernizing the salt sector in Senegal to opening a digital innovation center in Kenya: GFA is currently supporting some 190 projects across the African continent. "We consultants are makers and doers on an interim basis," says Britta Ziemann, GFA's regional business development coordinator. And Dr. Mareike Meyn, who heads GFA's private sector development division, calls in the article for more market orientation: "Our understanding of economic development needs to change," she says.
The assessments and experiences of GFA's experts reach a high-caliber readership through the German-African Business Association's anniversary publication. The high-quality publication is sent to decision-makers in politics, administration and business in Germany and African countries, as well as to representatives of the media and academia. The brochure is also used for public relations purposes at official events of the German-African Business Association and at German diplomatic missions in Africa.
