GFA WON EU PROJECT ADVISORY SERVICES FOR DEVCO C1 IN THE FIELD OF FOOD, NUTRITION SECURITY AND SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE

The Directorate-General for International Cooperation and Development (DG DEVCO) is a department of the European Commission. Its role is to work together with partner countries across the world to achieve sustainable development, and design the EU’s international partnership and development policy in the field of Food, Nutrition Security and Sustainable Agriculture (FNSSA).

In the field of agricultural development, GFA is implementing the EU funded project, “Advisory Services for Resilient Agri-Food System (ASRAFS)”, which directly supports the DEVCO C1 unit based in Brussels, Belgium. The project team provides advice to DEVCO C1 Unit in addition to supporting activities worldwide on country-level in cooperation with EU delegations and EU offices in developing countries. The ASRAFS project has a duration of 48 months.

The purpose of the project is to provide advice to support the EU actions in Food, Nutrition Security and Sustainable Agriculture (FNSSA) related areas in thematic and geographic programs. The project focuses on two main result areas: (1) High quality policies, programs and investments: Capacities of Governments, EU Delegations, Headquarters as well as other actors involved in the wider FNSSA sector are improved with regard to policy debate and design. (2) Knowledge & Communication: FNSSA-related knowledge, based on evidence, objective verifiable indicators and best practices is strengthened, disseminated and contributes to decision-making processes and lesson-learning.
