BRIDGING HEALTHCARE GAPS: GERMAN EXPERTISE FROM EQUIPMENT TO TECHNICAL SUPPORT IN UKRAINE
Strengthening healthcare systems requires not only investment, but also collaboration, innovation, and trust. On April 8, GFA Consulting Group joined a delegation to Ukraine led by Johann Saathoff from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. The mission aimed to explore cooperation opportunities between German and Ukrainian private companies particularly in the healthcare sector and to build strong networks for long-term collaboration.
The visit began in Lviv, where the delegation met local authorities, followed by high-level discussions in Kyiv on April 9 with representatives from the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine. These meetings focused on identifying shared priorities and aligning efforts to support Ukraine’s healthcare system during a critical time.
A key objective of the mission was to connect German expertise from advanced medical equipment to technical support services with Ukrainian needs on the ground. As Ukraine continues to navigate wartime challenges while preparing for large-scale recovery, such partnerships are essential for rebuilding a resilient and modern healthcare infrastructure.
In the historic centre of Lviv, German companies presented their capabilities and engaged directly with Ukrainian private sector representatives. Among the participating German companies were GFA Consulting Group, Erbe Group, OptiMedis, Dräger, Health Focus GmbH, OR Technology, Stiegelmeyer, Bayer, PwC Germany, and AKRUS.
Ukrainian participants included Likarniya Expert, ReMet, Lviv Polytechnic National University, Dental Clinic Best Doctor, ExoKor, Brainsport, and Dental Clinic Experts. These exchanges created a dynamic platform for sharing expertise, showcasing capabilities, and identifying concrete collaboration opportunities.
Discussions highlighted that GFA Consulting Group is currently the only German company among those listed with an established presence and strong network in Ukraine. This positioned the company as a key bridge for facilitating dialogue and helping other German firms better understand how to operate effectively in the Ukrainian context. The delegation also visited the UNBROKEN Rehabilitation Center in Lviv, a facility supported by the German government. The visit underscored the importance of rehabilitation services as part of Ukraine’s healthcare response and recovery.
Beyond immediate support such as supplying medical equipment and technical expertise, the discussions emphasized long-term cooperation in innovation, training, and system modernization. Ukrainian companies demonstrated strong local knowledge and adaptability, while German partners contributed extensive experience in healthcare technologies and systems integration.
This mission marks an important step toward building sustainable partnerships that extend beyond short-term aid. By fostering connections between private sector actors in both countries, initiatives like this lay the groundwork for effective recovery and future growth. As Ukraine looks toward reconstruction, integrating international expertise with local innovation will be vital. Collaboration between German and Ukrainian healthcare companies including GFA Consulting Group is not only about addressing current challenges. It is about shaping a stronger, more resilient healthcare system for the future.
