Climate finance advisory services for the implementation of Ireme Initiative
IREME Invest is a blended finance initiative designed to support commercially viable projects and businesses that advance green, sustainable, and low-carbon sectors within the Rwandan economy. IREME Invest is not a legally established entity but functions as a unifying framework that coordinates operations managed by the Development Bank of Rwanda (BRD) and the Rwanda Green Fund (FONERWA). These two institutions collaborate to provide a coordinated yet independent suite of financial instruments to address current challenges in developing climate project pipelines. FONERWA oversees the Project Preparation Facility (PPF), while BRD manages the Credit Facility (CF), which is supported by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) as part of the initiative. AFD’s financial and technical support to BRD includes a credit line equivalent to € 20 million, along with a Technical Assistance Programme to bolster the bank’s climate-related objectives and facilitate the implementation of green and climate-resilient projects aligned with the goals of the IREME Invest initiative. GFA provides hands-on coaching and advisory services to the BRD team in the implementation of IREME Invest, guiding BRD through each stage of the initiative.
